Quito was declared as one of the first World Cultural Heritage Sites in 1978. This second highest capital in the World has one of the best preserved historic centers in Latin America. Art is an important asset for Ecuador`s culture and high quality work is ubiquitous everywhere in the city and the rest of the country. Both pre-Colombian art, traditional folk art as well as modern and contemporary art are represented in Quito. Today you will experience one or two galleries, meet local artists and visit the most famous art museum in Quito.

After breakfast we start our visit of the well preserved colonial town of Quito which has been declared World cultural heritage of mankind from the UNESCO in 1979. We will drive up the Panecillo hill to enjoy a thorough view of the city. After this visit you will stroll the colonial town on foot, passing some narrow streets like la Ronda and the most emblematic church of Quito la Compañía de Jesus and la Plaza Grande where the Presidential Palace und the Cathedral are located. Lunch is served in an artistic restaurant.
The afternoon is dedicated to art. You will visit an art studio, meet artists and observe their artwork. Afterwards you will be a guest at the Guayasamin Museum and admire the masterpieces of the most prominent artist of the last century, Oswaldo Guayasamin.
